tde - trans data elektronik presents the compact fibre optic sub-rack tBG II

Dortmund, 30. April 2012. With the tBG II sub-rack tde – trans data elektronik, a leading...

Dortmund, 30. April 2012. With the tBG II sub-rack tde – trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology, presents a robust sub-rack suitable for the use in the carrier environment, industry cabling or structured cabling. Covering the scope of three rack units, the sub-rack divides high-fibre loose tube cables consisting of up to 144 fibre splices into 12 splice modules.

"The latest generation of tBG sub-racks has been especially developed for the use in fibre optic loose tube cables with a high number of fibres. Thus, up to 144 fibres can be accommodated over three rack units in 12 modules with a high packing density. We can equip the module’s front panels with any type of fibre optic connectors depending on the customers’ needs, which provides the users with great flexibility," says André Engel, CEO of tde - trans data elektronik.

144 fibers in 3 rack units
The tBG II sub-rack has a height of 3 rack units and a width of 19 inches. It is 84 HP wide and vertically mounted it accommodates 12 tBG II splice modules with 7 HP each. Due to marks on the holes, the modules are easily brought into the correct position in the sub-rack and secured with collar screws.

The casing of the rack consists of a combination of aluminum and stainless steel and the designer’s have put strong emphasis on the stability as well as reducing the weight. In operation, circular openings in the rack’s longitudinal braces ensure an optimal cross-ventilation in the distribution cabinet.

Colour coded and ready to splice
The front of the modules can be equipped with all standard fibre optic connectors available and also the mixed use of modules with different connector types within a sub-rack is easily possible. The factory-provided ready-to-splice preparation of the modules saves valuable installation time on site and allows for unproblematic splicing. In addition to the splice modules also a breakout version of the modules is available.

Over lengths tray and cable management at customer’s demand
The cable over lengths can be stored safely and neatly in a 1U over lengths tray, which is installed beneath the sub-rack. This tray is removable or can be retrofitted. A cable management panel with five cable brackets at the front of the over lengths tray ensures the orderly running of the cables. The user is absolutely flexible in the selection of the cable brackets since various designs in different lengths made of metal or plastic are available. The cable input positioned on the left or right side of the rack’s rear supports metric glands and cable splitters.

tde - trans data electronik introduces a seawater resistant fiber optic wall mount enclosure

Dortmund, 29. March 2012. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and...

Dortmund, 29. March 2012. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology, now offers a robust and seawater resistant fiber optic enclosure for wall-installation in harsh environments such as those found in offshore wind power plants or oil platforms. The compact stainless steel construction is ready prepared for splicing and comes in a turn-key system that can accommodate up to 168 splices.

"Data transfer in offshore wind farms demands high standards of the network components since they need to reliably provide high performance while at the same time brave the adverse effects of seawater and pollution. With the fibre optic wall mount enclosures tde has developed a complete turn-key system that makes an initial startup on site possible within the shortest amount of time”, says André Engel, CEO of tde-trans data elektronik.

Waterproof stainless steel casing
The casing of the enclosure is made of powdered stainless steel type V2A or V4A. It is processed precisely, extremely durable and - thanks to the protection class IP 66 - it reliably protects the components inside against the ingress of dust and sea water.

Removable splice-unit
Inside the fiber optic enclosure the splice area is located on the left side and the patch panel is on the right side. The two areas are both defined by a separately lockable door. The splice trays and the cable management clips for spare cable lengths are mounted on a carrier plate. The complete splicing area can be removed from the cabinet for splicing, which can thus be done very comfortably outside the cabinet. The assembly and disassembly of the carrier plate is tool-free. The upper edge of the carrier plate is inserted into a groove in the exterior of the cabinet, and then the lower region is fixed with knurled nuts to support the bolts.

The pigtails that extend into the splice area are provided with a protective sheet, so that no pigtail can be damaged accidentally when mounting the carrier plate. A spacious cable management and storage system including a bending radius limitation provides enough space to store the spare cable lengths - the generous dimensions make the handling easier. Because of the steady vibration of a wind turbine, the cable management is designed in a way that the bearing surface guarantees a long-term adherence of the cable bending radii.

Flexible internal assembly
The user is flexible regarding the choice of connector types and in terms of port density. By default LC duplex links are used, but in principle, any optical fiber connectors can be implemented. The internal design of the cabinet can be customized due to its modular buildup and DIN Rails can be integrated if required. The supplied cables come with separate potential equalization. If the supply with fibers occurs via a multi-fiber loose tube in which the fibers lie in a steel tube, the grounding of the cable is very useful so that the steel tube does not transfer power to the cabinet.

tde-trans data elektronik presents the semi-modular plug & play cabling system tSML

Dortmund, 29. February 2012. With tSML – tde Semi Modular Link, tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology, presents a new semi-modular plug and play cabling system. tSML is particularly attractive for users who want to universally deploy LC duplex or RJ45 ports on a half-rack. This system offers space for 48 LC duplex or RJ45 ports per rack unit.

“In terms of transfer technology, quality and performance the new tSML system meets the consistently high tde-standards. For the benefit of the price we reduced the modularity and limited the diversity of available connection methods to LC duplex and RJ45 technology”, says André Engel, CEO of tde-trans data elektronik from Dortmund.

The tSML cabling system is semi-modular, comprising only modules and trunk cables. Additional Rack Mount Enclosures for the modules– which are needed in full modular systems - are not required for tSML since the 19” (0,5 RU) modules are bolted directly to the rack. All components are factory pre-assembled and 100% inspected, which allows a blindingly easy plug and play installation.

High quality connectors and cables
The twisted-pair system components for 1 GbE have a Telco connector at the rear and 24 RJ45 connectors at the front. For 10 GbE networks tde factory-provides the individual RJ45 modules in groups of six with the twisted pair cables. Due to the space-saving design the installation of the trunk cables is very easy. The cables are subsequently connected to the modules by attaching the components via a simple slide mechanism. When using fiber optics, MPO/MTP® multi-fiber connectors are used on the rear side while the front comes with LC duplex connectors. In single-mode the fiber optic modules are available in LC PC and LC APC polish. In multi-mode there is the choice between the categories OM3 and OM4.

Space saving cable design
The copper trunk cables are extremely compact in design as well as space saving in racks and in cable trays. MPO trunk cables are available either in a very thin patch cord design with 12 fibers and 3mm jacket or in a breakout version with 48 fibers and 9 mm in diameter. A fiber optic fan out unit has been omitted in favor of the attractive price-performance ratio while the connectors are assembled directly to the cable. The whole tSML system is characterized by a high density so that nowadays Data Center’s Green IT requirements are fully met.

More tde cabling systems at a Glance:

The classic – tBL – tde Basic Link
The tBL – tde Basic Link system has been developed for traditional network cabling. The installer can wire them easily using LSA+ IDC. During the development process, great importance was placed on a high port density and an excellent data transfer performance. The high quality 19 inch patch panel, containing 24 RJ45 ports, requires only a half rack unit. Two patch panels with 48 RJ45 Ports altogether can be combined in one rack unit.

The flexible - tML® – tde Modular Link System
tML® is a patented modular cable system that comprises three core components: Modules, trunk cable and rack mount enclosure. All system components are prepared and tested in the factory before going out to data centers, where they are predominantly installed. The plug & play installation ensures that systems can be up and running in the shortest amount of time. There are fibre optic and twisted-pair modules, which can be used together in a single rack mount enclosure achieving a very high port density. The heart of the system is formed by the rear-mounted MTP®/MPO and telco connectors, which enable the connection of at least 6 ports at once using 10 GbE or GbE performance. At 40/100 GbE, the modules are replaced by front panels with MPO adapters. Using 48 MPO-connectors, 1152 fibres can be implemented in a single rack unit.

Dortmund, 28. November 2011. With a new range of optical fiber dividers tde – trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fiber optic multi-fiber technology, complete their product portfolio in fiber optic technology. The optical fiber dividers are designed in an extremely compact way and support loose tube cables with up to 144 individual tails.

Loose tube cables include one or more plastic tubes each of them containing several fibers. For instance, a loose tube cable with 144 fibers includes twelve plastic tubes with 12 fibers each. So-called dividers or „Spider Fan-out“ units separate the fibers and transform them into single loose tube cables which allow a direct connector termination.

Lean dividers for 144 fibers on 1RU
„The new dividers are now available for the tde standard trunk cables and will shortly be available for the tML®-trunk cables as well. Users have the advantage of a fast plug and play installation with minimum space requirements,“ says André Engel, CEO of tde-trans data elektronik GmbH. Design and construction of the optical fiber dividers are based on tde’s experience and development expertise.

The divider program includes five different models for four to 144 fibers. The design of the divider is very compact. With a length of 85 mm and a diameter of 40 mm the 144-fiber divider easily fits on one rack unit (RU). The normal glands were deliberately omitted so that the screws cannot be loosened accidentally or opened carelessly. The divider housing is made of sturdy aluminum and offers an excellent tensile strength. Furthermore, the dividers are protected by durable and removable pulling socks.

Space-saving tML® Cube housings implement server close connection technology in raised floors

Dortmund, 15. September 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and...

Dortmund, 15. September 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology complement their modular Plug&Play cabling system tML®-tde Modular Link with Cube housings for server environments. In the data center the cube-shaped housings can be mounted right below the rack at the pedestals in the raised floor - this saves space in the rack while still providing an optimal server connection to the structured cabling.

If you want to use both the area in the data center as well as the space in the rack to full capacity, spatial concepts that arrange the installation of passive components in the raised floors are beneficial.

Cube - Compact cabling inside the raised floor
Additionally to the in-house cabling system tML®, Dortmund based tde-trans data elektronik offer a cubic casing for the installation of modules right below the server rack. In doing so, the connection technology needs no space in the server rack but still achieves highest packing density with 24 ports per rack unit. Starting from the cube, the patching runs right to the server ports. Due to the proximity to the server, the patch cords can be kept very short, which results in a consistently structured cabling image.

"The new tML® Cube housing is ideal for large server installations, which leave no more room within the server cabinet for the installation of patch panels. The installation in the raised floor is a space-saving solution, which also provides a maximum packing density," says André Engel, CEO of tde-trans data elektronik.

Fast installation with Plug&Play
Modular and prefabricated cabling systems such as tde’s tML® system are particularly convenient to handle. The system is completely pre-assembled by the manufacturer and the cable designs are very compact therewith reducing the installation costs to a minimum. After laying the cables in the raised floor blanks and installing the cubes to the pedestals of the double floor, the modules are assembled. Then, all you have to do is to connect the trunk’s connectors at the reverse side of the modules and the network cabling is ready for use. The cube cabinet takes four twisted pairs or fiber optic tML® modules. A special drawer-technology safely protects the patch area from mechanical influences.

The tML® – tde Modular Link System

The plug & play installation ensures that systems can be up and running in the shortest amount of time. There are fibre optic and twisted-pair modules, which can be used together in a single rack mount enclosure achieving a very high port density. The heart of the system is formed by the rear-mounted MTP®/MPO and telco connectors, which enable the connection of at least 6 ports at once using 10 GbE or GbE performance. At 40/100 GbE, the modules are replaced by front panels with MPO adapters. Using 48 MPO-connectors, 1152 fibres can be implemented in a single rack unit.

tde-trans data elektronik produces network components according to the European Code of Conduct for energy-efficient data centres

Dortmund, 29. June 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and...

Dortmund, 29. June 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology is one of the first German suppliers of passive data centre infrastructure that matches the code of conduct of the European Commission for energy-efficient data centres. tde’s cabling systems for data centres have always been tested for energy-saving potentials. This enables data centre operators to achieve low power consumption and to cut costs enormously.

The ‘European Code of Conduct for Data Centres’ is an initiative of the Joint Research Centre and the Institute for Energy of the European Commission. Only data centre operators and manufacturers of data centre components are listed, which provide evidence of their efforts to expedite an economical and efficient energy-consumption in data centres: 'Participants' involve data centres that are operated according to strict energy-economic aspects. ‘Endorsers’ are the manufacturers of energy-efficient components.

tde provides energy-efficient data centre components

Since 2010 tde-trans data elektronik has already been listed as a vendor at the Green-IT consulting office of the German high-tech association Bitkom. After a thorough review of the product range and production methods used, the Dortmund-based company has now - as one of the first German providers of passive infrastructure - also been listed as Endorser of the European Code of Conduct for data centres:

"The energy saving potential when operating data centres is tremendous. Having realised this fact we support the reduction of energy consumption in data centres with our products. It is a great honour and it makes us very proud that tde was accepted in the small circle of the Code of Conduct Endorsers by the EU Commission, "said André Engel, CEO of tde - trans data elektronik. Through targeted consulting and public relations, tde spurs on the idea and the establishment of ‘green’ data centres.

Green Data Centers with tde

All tde data centre components are committed to energy efficiency. The quality and the environmental management follow the guidelines of ISO 14001 and 9001 as well as TL 9000. Especially the tML® system offers companies, which would like to cut costs through green IT measures in the data centre, a modular cabling system of highest technical standards with maximum packing density. tML® is a patented modular cabling system that comprises three core components: Modules, trunk cable and module slot units. The system components are a 100% made in Germany, pre-assembled and tested. This enables an on-site plug and play installation in the shortest time possible. The system components can be reused at any time and due to a drastic reduction of cable volume as well as the provision of twice the density in the network rack, significant energy savings are achieved. As the data centre can be smaller and the ventilation channels in the cabinets and floors are not unnecessarily blocked, the required cooling effort is reduced significantly.

Last but not least, also the shipping of the components is held ecologically: tde uses “UPS Carbon neutral”, so certified carbon-neutral offsets guarantee the neutralization of the emissions caused by the shipping of the packages.

tde - trans data elektronik offers optical monitoring boxes for permanent network control

Dortmund, 14. June 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and...

Dortmund, 14. June 2011. tde - trans data elektronik, a leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of network technology and a pioneer in the field of fibre optic multi-fibre technology offers a new ½ rack unit (U) comprising an optical monitoring box for the control of up to 12 full-duplex fibre-optic lines by passive access - without disturbing the data transmission of the network.

Be it either for Voice over IP, video conferencing or security applications -100 percent system stability is the highest priority for sensitive and critical network connections. An accurate network monitoring is required to ensure a constant availability. The use of the tde Optical Monitoring box allows a continuous monitoring of the network without affecting the data transmission to the network.

"Our new optical monitoring box features a sleek design and makes a very space-saving product, which enables an increased network security monitoring and consequently prevents network downtime," said André Engel, CEO of tde - trans data elektronik GmbH.

Monitoring by splitting

The tde Optical Monitoring box is used to split a fibre optic port into two ports: On the reverse side of the box the monitored fibre optic line is "guided through". In the box, all the fibres are split. Therefore, the additional ports can be connected to monitoring devices that allow a passive monitoring of the network traffic.

The box supports the monitoring of 12 LC duplex ports on a half rack unit (U) at data transmission speeds of 10 Gigabit per second. tde’s Optical Monitoring boxes offer a very good optical performance, so that the available loss budget will not be unnecessarily burdened. There are multimode- and singlemode-versions available and even the combination of both transmission media in a box is possible upon request. As a standard connector the LC-duplex is used but other connectors can be implemented on demand. Due to the usage of MPO/MTP® multi-fiber connectors for instance, a port density of up to 24 duplex ports can be realized.
